Steam Cooker for Fish Meal & Insect Protein Lines

Continuous indirect steam-jacketed cookers with heated central rotor coils, ensuring uniform protein coagulation and cellular oil release at low specific steam consumption.

Serves: Fishmeal & Fish Oil Insect Protein (BSFL)

Product Overview

The Steam Cooker is the primary thermal conditioning unit in fishmeal, BSFL insect meal, and animal rendering plants. Utilizing saturated steam via a hollow spiral blade rotor and jacketed casing, it coagulates cellular proteins and ruptures fat cells at 95°C–100°C to liberate oil and stickwater for downstream screw pressing.

Key Features

  • Simultaneous Rotor Shaft & Shell Interlayer Indirect Heating
  • Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) for 15–20 Min Retention Regulation
  • Anti-Clog Air Outlet Buffer Mechanism Prevents Fugitive Leaks
  • Multiple Metallurgy Options (Carbon Steel Q345, SS304, SS316L, Duplex SS)
  • Auxiliary Direct Steam Injection for Rapid Start-up Conditioning

Working Principle & Structure

Raw fish or washed BSFL larvae are fed into the cooker by a speed-controlled screw. Saturated steam (0.4–0.6 MPa) heats both the central hollow spiral rotor and the outer shell jacket. As the material is gently conveyed, uniform thermal conduction coagulates proteins and bursts fat cells within 15–20 minutes, converting the raw biomass into an easily dewaterable mash.

FAQ

Why is steam cooking essential before pressing?
Cooking coagulates raw proteins and ruptures fat cells. Without adequate cooking (95–100°C), presscake remains gelatinous and wet, leading to slippage and poor oil separation in the screw press.
Can this cooker handle high-viscosity BSFL insect larvae?
Yes. The hollow spiral blades provide continuous agitation and positive displacement, ensuring homogeneous cooking without hot spots or burning.
What is the standard delivery and manufacturing lead time for this equipment?
Standard manufacturing lead time is 45 to 60 days depending on metallurgy and capacity specifications. Rush assembly options are available for ongoing plant projects.
